About

I predominantly paint in oil and acrylic, depicting landscapes and scenes which captivate my imagination. I am drawn by the history, narrative or character of a place and seek to capture a sense of mood and light within my work.

Having studied Fine Art at KIAD, Canterbury, I spent 10 years working as a professional artist before moving into teaching.  Now living in Sussex with my wife and three children, I work part time as a supply teacher, enabling me to focus on my artwork once again.  Much of my latest work has been experimental, inspired by the imaginary worlds created by my children, as well as the beautiful Sussex landscape.

In recent years I have exhibited at the ING Discerning Eye Exhibition in the Mall Galleries, London in 2021 and was shortlisted for the Trinity Buoy Wharf Drawing Prize in 2022.

In 2023 I participated in Sky TV’s Landscape Artist of the Year (to be broadcast in early 2024). This was a refreshing experience, helping me to find new ways of working within a fixed timeframe as, due to my neurodiversity, completing work has often been a challenge. It has also encouraged me to venture out from the safety of my studio to paint outside from direct observation.
